The students of Vasundhara Eco club of Our Lady of The Rosary Higher Secondary School, Dona Paula took up an exciting activity of making seed bombs. The purpose of this unique and interesting environmental project was to inculcate a sense of responsibility and sensitivity towards the biodiversity of Goa.

250 seed bombs were prepared with different varieties of seeds like Mango, Chiku, Cashew, Tirphala, Reetha, Guava, Ramphal, Sitaphal, Drumsticks, Tamarind, Karipatta, Lime and many more. As the seeds are encased in compost and clay, they are already planted in their own little ecosystem so all you have to do is distribute them. The lightweight of the ball means you can toss it or scatter it anywhere on land that is fertile.

They are an effective way of establishing plants without the need for plowing or drilling, at very little cost. Also, you do not need any gardening skills because nature takes its own course and seeds hidden and protected within these tiny balls grow into plants. Success rate is believed to be more than 60%.

With a lot of enthusiasm and a will to contribute towards maintaining the wild life of Goa and restore the greenery, students of 11th Science along with the teacher in charge Mrs. Sujata N. Nayak, eco club members Mrs.Sandra Silveira, Mr.Dharma Oli and Miss Manjiri Salgaokar took up a nature trail in Siridao and Bambolim on 11th September 2023 to throw the seed bombs with a hope in heart that they will germinate with rain water and eventually grow further into beautiful fruit bearing trees as the nature takes its own course. The students found this joyful and creative activity to be a rich learning experience.
