Vasundhara’s green initiative- Sowing hope with 460 seed bombs.

The Vasundhara Eco Club of Our Lady of the Rosary Higher Secondary School, Dona Paula, successfully conducted its flagship activity of Aerial Reforestation through Seed Bombs.

As part of this initiative, students of Classes 11 and 12 Science prepared 460 seed bombs using seeds of indigenous Goan plants. The students collected a variety of
seeds like that of Jamun, Cashew, Tamarind, Bull’s Heart (Ramphal), Custard Apple (Sitaphal), Ashoka Tree, and Cotton Tree etc

Each seed was carefully wrapped in a ball of soil mixed with kitchen compost prepared by the students themselves, this not only provided nutrition for germination but also promoted the concept of waste to wealth.

On 23rd July 2026, the students, accompanied by the Teacher-in-Charge of Vasundhara Eco Club Mrs. Sujata N. Nayak and club members Mrs. Sucheta Pai, Mrs. Ninoshka Menezes, and Mr. Dharma Oli, visited three locations to disperse the seed bombs — Bambolim, Old Goa, and Karmali village.

The activity was met with great enthusiasm. For the students, the process of making seed bombs and later throwing them was both engaging and meaningful, as it gave them a direct role in restoring Goa’s green cover and biodiversity.

Overall, the activity served as a powerful learning experience, rooting in students the values of environmental consciousness, teamwork, and responsibility towards nature.
